Self-Help Gems You Can’t Put Down (2025)

I am a bookish. I mostly veer towards non-fiction because I grew up in a mess (sorry Mum and Dad, but I know you did your best!).

I have seen how others had it better – a more nurturing environment, greater access to resources… I felt so deficient – until I picked up a self-help book (it’s number 1 on this list).

It was a game changer.. so much so that my bookshelf is now packed with inspiring self-help reads that push me to level up my life. If that’s your mojo too – here are some book recommendations for you! (well if you haven’t already read them!)

Here’s my latest collection with some TBRs…

Atomic Habits by James Clear

This book breaks down the science behind habits and gives you practical tips to build good ones and break the bad ones.

When I first picked up this book, I was struggling to stay consistent with my morning routine. James Clear’s idea of “habit stacking” helped me build a morning ritual that actually sticks. Now, every morning starts with journaling, a glass of water, and 10 minutes of stretching – all thanks to this book!

Here’s why you’ll love it: Simple, actionable, and totally life-changing.

Dare to Lead by Brené Brown

Brené Brown teaches us how to lead with vulnerability, courage, and authenticity. Whether it’s at work or in life, you’ll learn how to show up bravely.

As someone who used to struggle with imposter syndrome (and occasionally still is ><), this book gave me the confidence to step into leadership roles with authenticity. It taught me that true leadership is about connection, not perfection. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to grow in their existing role.

Here’s why you’ll love it: Full of inspiring stories and real-world applications.

The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown

I love this photo because it perfectly sums this book. It reminds me of the concept of kintsugi – about accepting your flaws and imperfections.

In a world where society and social media portray and emphasize perfection, this book is a wise reminder to embrace your flaws. This book is all about embracing who you truly are and letting go of the need to be perfect. It’s packed with insights on how to cultivate authenticity and self-worth.

I used to feel like I am not good enough always, but this book showed me that embracing my imperfections is where true happiness lies. It’s given me the freedom to be my authentic self.

Here’s why you’ll love it: Encouraging, honest, and deeply relatable.
